From MG Ball

Excuse my lame attempt for a title but ZOMFG MG BALL!!!!!!

I've always wanted to own one of these but for some reason I never got around to getting it. The Ball is one of my favourite designs. It's so simple but it just screams total kickass, especially when some maniac like Shiro from MS 08th platoon rapes a Zaku 2 with it.

What can I say? It's a static piece without the ungodly range of articulation the newer kits have but it can do anything the Ball was designed to do.

All 3 variations of the MG Ball came with a tiny stand to sit the Ball on or else it would topple over (unless you manage to balance it on its main thruster) This sole feature made it one of Bandai's most generous and innovative decisions at that time.

The Ball doesnt come with any hands but it does come with a pair of highly articulated and fun to play with graspers

More bandai generosity this time a small metal pipe for added detailing

The red wires at the top of the graspers mimic electrical wiring and its actually a long piece of red wire looped around.

Some hints of the inner frame flood lights and what I think are retro rockets in all 4 directions

The canopy for the cockpit comes with a transparent pale green part but its a bit hard to see the color in this pic

You can see the control panels just behind it. It's a one seater despite its size and it was used primarily for loadlifting and construction in space and turned into cheapo weapon by the penniless EFSF. Imo it looks abit like a Russian diving pod lawl.

The two appendages for the graspers can extend a bit to give it more range

This part is actually made of soft rubber material similar to polycaps with a socket joint inside to give the arm some circular movement and to act as a covering for the internals kind of like the leather pouch? you'll find covering some gearsticks in cars

I accidentally broke the lower claw but I've patched it up and currently waiting for the cement to dry

Each claw has individual movement and pretty much everywhere you see what looks like a joint you can bet that it can move

Introducing the dual recoilless cannon Shiro used to poon the unfortunate Zaku in the first ep of MS 08

Besides the orange color of the Ball the weapon is what sets it apart from the other 2 kits. The kit also comes with the standard 180mm but it looks like shit and its not dual barrel so I didn't bother making it but I might throw it up after I panel line.

Heres a break down of the parts of the kit minus some extras I haven't bothered addon on yet

This is the main reason why I fell in love with this kit

As some of you may know my current gunpla fetish is with detailed inner frames and this really does it for me =P

There isn't a single spot on the frame which is lacking in detail and you can really get the feel that its a functional design

I thought these parts were very clever on bandai's half
From MG Ball

Kind of like a cage lattice for reinforced durability which goes around the Ball's frame and underneath the armor.

Some extra detail once the cages are off

Let's go nude surfing!

More to come when I get around to detailing up the kit and heres a sneak peek of whats in the bag
