Tarkus

Unfinished and needs editing. At least I know what I'm working on now. Starting is always the hardest step.

________

A spaceship was hovering in a low planetary orbit around a planet. Unforeseen circumstances had resulted in the spaceship gravitating to the rocky, seemingly uninhibited planet.
The spaceship was rather unconventionally shaped - a boxed oblong with a giant window at the front and three F-1 engines in a triangular pattern at the back. Although white all over, there were two black strips - about five metres in length - running horizontally around the craft. A small, but distinct, red, white and blue flag indicated that this was a federation airship.
Through the front window, a grey haired man could be seen raving excitedly to a rookie twenty something brunette pilot.

"Why does this keep happening to me? I make a wish to see a planet we happen to pass by, and whoa! We end up getting sucked right in. This is prophecy. You gotta believe it too kid, this sorta stuff does happen. This is just like that time I was wanted to see the fleet that just came to town. I used to live on a harbour town, you know that. So we go out shopping, parents and all, and on the way back, my dad makes a wrong turn! Next thing I know we're on the freeway on the North Side, and no way out for 20 miles. We drove over the whole harbour, and I saw all of the whole fleet. That's when I said to myself 'boy, you still got that magic in you. Now work some more up and maybe you'll fly one of them F-35's one day.'

He stopped as suddenly as he had started and looked out the window with a bittersweet look in his eyes.
The girl-pilot just smiled to herself. They were in a fix. It would probably be several weeks before the multipurpose booster rocket headquarters had launched in their direction would arrive. Till then they would just have to wait.

Busy busy week

KOALA 0 comments
Well, its been a busy week as usual. 5 days of work, and comming home every night to work on my Maya project.
So far, its around 80% complete, and im handing it in this way because im too lazy, and seriously cant be bothered trying to spend so much effort in fixing up those minor errors.
Heres whats been done so far.

As usual, thats just a playblast version, so its just a preview.
The final render would look more like this

From Misc
All this was made possible because i got a new mouse to work with.
Since my Logitech MX rev charging dock has been sent in for warranty, i was stuck with my very first mouse. A microsoft product....

From Misc
to be honest, i've never been a fan of this mouse ever since i first got it. Further more, its a ball mouse.

From Misc
Which means its impossible to use on the icemat, because the ball keeps slipping.
Hence i got this as a temporary replacement. The MS Sidewinder

From Misc
Still made by microsoft, but much higher quality and more tech thrown in.

From Misc
Even comes with weights and 3 sets of different feet for differnt surfaces!
And its also very ugly.....
no where near as elegant as the mx revolution or even the vx revolution

From Misc

From Misc
But none the less, it still does the job, and thats whats most important i guess.
I've finished building the gaplant already but havent done a review yet, so i guess i'll break it up into a few posts.
Runner review for now
A & Bx2 runners. Basically recoloured standard gaplant runner.

From Gunpla
C & D runners. Again, same as normal gaplant. The fins on the C runners arent gonna be used in this kit, so 4 extra pieces of spare pla plate.

From Gunpla
E & F Again, nothing new. Extra mini stand which was supposed to be for the booster unit is still included.

From Gunpla
G , H & Polycaps Heres where things get interesting. Once again, bandai's superb moulding efficiency. 4 colours on one runner. So with the gaplant harairoo, you get not 1 but 2 multicoloured runner. and this kit also uses quite a few polycaps.

From Gunpla

Unfortunately thats more for now.

I would be overseas tomorrow, so wont be doing any gunpla reviews until i get back. Still have a Strike Freedom and Hi-Nu to review.
But meanwhile, you can wait for ToFu to post up his pics of his new kits, including 2 HGUC Kshatyras!!!

Next post will be made in HK
And in advance, i would wish all our readers a Merry Chirstmas and Happy New Year!

BIG shippment

Saturday, November 21, 2009 KOALA 2 comments
Havent been very active lately, mostly because i've been working 5days a week, and have either been spending too much time playing Ether Saga (which i have now given up on) or working on my tafe assignments.
For those who are curious about what i've been working on so far, heres a small preview of my current project. Its supposed to be a 6 legged robot, which slightly resembles the agrissa from gundam 00

Now moving on to the main part of todays post.
GUNPLA!
and lots of it
A big shippment of ours came in the mail on Wednesday, just in time for Sums birthday dinner.
This has been our biggest shipment from R10.
The shipment included a couple of action bases, a GunSniper HGUC Hi-nu, HGUC Sazabi, HGUC Gaplant Hrairoo, 2 HGUC Kshatriyas, 1-100 00 Raiser designer, 1-100 Cheridium designer color, MG TurnA, MG Strike Freedom Full Burst, MG Hi-nu, and to top things off a HGUC GP03 Dendrobium - the mother of all bandai gunpla.

From Gunpla
Im still working on my assingment for now, so thats all for today. I've already finished building the Gaplant, and would be doing a full wip review when im free.

Every UC timeline series in gundam that I know of have some squid or octopus looking mobile armor and the Unicorn series is no different.

Zeon forces have stolen the basic design and transformational technology from the ReZG or the refined zeta gundam and the outcome?
From Onderon's gallery

this^

Despite being a Zeon suit the Sinanju was particularly shaped with an absurd amount of thrusters and aerodynamic lines as well.

Sadly the Unicorn gundam does not have any special abilities besides fall apart at the slightest touch so it.

pewpew

Looks better than Arios imo

Maybe the Sazabi can do it to? lawl

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUM!!!

Saturday, November 7, 2009 KOALA 4 comments
As most of you may know, today is Sum's (Onderon) 21st birthday.
So we all wish him the best ^^

Now here on 4PAK, we often like to humiliate each other by posting up quotes of each others failures. And our failure of the day goes to Suyan, who sent a happy birthday message to the wrong person.

From Misc
Better luck next time ^^

And on the note of failures, i'll post up a picture of Sum's birthday present. One of the best examples of true Aussie failures. (he already knows what it is)

From Misc
Btw Sum, you have to eat this with a box of Ferrero Rochers. Otherwise you wont be getting your other pressent.

This is what I do when I procrastinate

From Saber Tiger

So Tomorrow is my big day *hint hint* yet it is also the day of my first exam *huzzah*

What was suppose to be last minute cramming became a lazy day of lounging around, enjoying the peaceful and serene atmosphere and trying to find the meaning of life and my lack of female companionship.

What is a day without my favourite pastime? After milling around for a better half of the day I was hit with the sudden urge to detail up my saber tiger model I built ages ago. Although I promised to paint it (which I haven't gotten around to doing) I broke out my trusty ZIG Millennium marker *read-best panel line pen ever ever ever*

And I'll let the pictures do the talking
From Saber Tiger

From Saber Tiger

Even though the tiger looks pretty good straight out of the box, simply by adding some lines to hightlight and bring out the edges really makes the shapes jump right out.

NOOOO. Haven't used my camera in such a long time!

MACRO!!!
From Saber Tiger

My least favourite part...more like I despise its paws. Reason? 4 paws > 16 digits> mrghlrhlrghlrhlrghlgrlh
From Saber Tiger

The underside was really easy to line due to the width of the lines moulded into the kit although I do have some beef with Kotobukiya's moulding, one word...inconsistent.
An otherwise great kit, it was marred with panel lines which go from wide to uber thin and deep to shallow on the same line zzz

Less bitchin more smex
From Saber Tiger

Conclusion: I really enjoyed the time i spent not studying and playing with the saber tiger. Would I do it again? Hells yeah!
