Ok I'm a bad person for not finishing off the WIP but sometimes I get so into building a kit I forget to take progress photos.

So here's a wall of pics

Ok so its all the 1 pose...for now but I will definitely take some more later since it is pretty fun to play with and there are also a few major faults with the kit I found as well and I'll try to cover that in a later post.

So until then scroll back up to the top and look at the pics again

HMM Liger Zero WISP part 1

Thursday, December 9, 2010 Onderon 4 comments
I received my HMM Liger Zero on Wednesday and since I've been itching to build something for a while I got started on it right away (and wash away memories of an unfortunate accident involving plamo some of you may know about).

First off is the box which is stupidly big for a kit of its size. Its a zoid comparable to the Saber Tiger and Lightning Saix. It has slightly more runners than the Saix but pretty much the same as the Tiger so dunno wtf happened with Kotobukiya here.

And here comes the wall of pics with almost no text =)

And heres my progress for today.
From gunpla

Like most (all) Kotobukiya kits certain levels of effort are needed to make it look half presentable but since I'm lazy I've just did the bare minimum and cleaned up the parts and added some details along the way
From gunpla

The Liger uses a new type of shoulder joints. The blue thingo is hinged at the top under the OFF-WHITE/CREAMY(yuck) armor and can only swing upwards and since I haven't assembled the legs yet I'm not sure if the joint in the leg will allow it to swing back and forth
From gunpla

The Liger has more color separation than I initially thought it had
From gunpla

Front torso expands foward from mid-section and the sliding mechanism for deploying stabilisers.
From gunpla

Brown tubing is actually hard plastic and comes molded in the same light blue as the shoulder joint.

Hey guys its been a while since I actually posted something so I thought I'll share with you something I was working on in the past couple weeks.

As you guys may know some of the things I like include gunpla and small animals so what do you get when you combine these 2?

I give you the one and only good thing that has come from Kotobukiya: zoids

From gunpla

I'm sure most of you are familiar with the series so I wont go into it. So after building many humanoid type kits it was a nice change in pace to make something with 4 legs and resembles the terminator of the furry kingdom (I can't believe I just used that word XD)

Anyways enough of that, here's the Command Wolf LC custom
From gunpla

For the blind or misinformed its based on a wolf although it kind of looks like a fox and has a small head like Doudou and is comparatively smaller than the Sabre Tiger I review many moons ago
From gunpla

Whats a wolf without a generic howl-at-the-moon (ie my lamp) pose
From gunpla

Despite all the misgivings I throw at Kotobukiya I do have to applaud them for they way the designed the zoid kits. Being animals you would expect them to not only look like one but move like one as well!

Curiosity killed the cat wolf

I climbz ze toblerone!

Even zoids need to relieve themselves sometime of...machine oil?

The following picture reminds me a lot of Annie and Bobby

Because I cbb typing anymore (cos I'm super lazy) I'll just leave it here

This is what I do when I procrastinate

From Saber Tiger

So Tomorrow is my big day *hint hint* yet it is also the day of my first exam *huzzah*

What was suppose to be last minute cramming became a lazy day of lounging around, enjoying the peaceful and serene atmosphere and trying to find the meaning of life and my lack of female companionship.

What is a day without my favourite pastime? After milling around for a better half of the day I was hit with the sudden urge to detail up my saber tiger model I built ages ago. Although I promised to paint it (which I haven't gotten around to doing) I broke out my trusty ZIG Millennium marker *read-best panel line pen ever ever ever*

And I'll let the pictures do the talking

Even though the tiger looks pretty good straight out of the box, simply by adding some lines to hightlight and bring out the edges really makes the shapes jump right out.

NOOOO. Haven't used my camera in such a long time!

MACRO!!!
From Saber Tiger

My least favourite part...more like I despise its paws. Reason? 4 paws > 16 digits> mrghlrhlrghlrhlrghlgrlh
From Saber Tiger

The underside was really easy to line due to the width of the lines moulded into the kit although I do have some beef with Kotobukiya's moulding, one word...inconsistent.
An otherwise great kit, it was marred with panel lines which go from wide to uber thin and deep to shallow on the same line zzz

Less bitchin more smex

Conclusion: I really enjoyed the time i spent not studying and playing with the saber tiger. Would I do it again? Hells yeah!

Ssber Tiger WIP part 3: waist

Friday, August 7, 2009 Onderon 0 comments
I actually finished this last night but I was a bit too tired to put it up so here it is now.

Picking up from before the part we are going to look at is the midsection. Its are rather small part but nonetheless Kotobukiya has packed it with smaller pieces. The 2 long pipes and the 2 curved parts at the top are made from the soft PVC material so its quite flexible and despite what I've heard I have not had any dodgy fitting pipes which like to wriggle around. Lucky me =P

It looks like something from a motor cycle doesn't it? The connection peg at the front and back is what connects that section to the front torso and the hindquarters. The back peg which is the one pointing down is on a swivel joint which allows for some degree of movement between the sections. There is a similar joint at the base of the front torso as well.

After that is the waist or the hindquarters and again its rather straightforward. A not of interest is that the hydraulics this time are stationary so its just 2 parts stuck together unlike the others in the kit. I guess one of the reasons for this is that it serves no real purpose for the model and its just some extra details as a bonus, the hydraulics get covered up by the red armor and later hidden by the legs anyways so its no big deal.
From Onderon's gallery

Because I forgot to talk about the front shoulder joints I've included the ones for the back XD. both front and back joints are really similar so you can probably guess at how it comes together from the parts picture 1 WIP ago.
From Onderon's gallery

The red armor pieces gave me some trouble as they were reluctant to fit into place but it was more of a bad peg positioning where I couldn't tell where the hole was rather than bad QC.

See that hole? its where the peg I mentioned earlier fits into and just underneath that are 2 square openings for the PVC tubes to fit into.

And here's whats been done till now and its coming along heaps well.

Counting the grid on the cutting mat might help you appreciate the size of the saber tiger.

Slaps some wheels on it and its a kickass motorcycle lawl.

The underside of the zoid is abit plain atm but thats to be expected since theres suppose to be a chest cannon mounted there.

Expected the legs to go up sometime this sunday and thats it for now.
