I liked the RX-8 better tbh but that's just me

yeah, the shape of the RX-8 looks more sleek, and sporty. But i guess the Golf is more powerful and easier to drive.

I do too (even now) - nothing beats the RX-8 exterior design. Really wanted to go for a new 8 but decided it wasn't worth it, several reasons:
- depreciation rates
- extra maintenance+care
- running costs (crazy fuel+engine oil top-ups)
- no longer in production (2010 demo at best)
- price (several k higher for a demo)
So instead decided on a GTI.
Drove it around quite a bit today, tried the DSG and launch controls. It feels very heavy and powerful esp when revving with paddles, unlike the RX-8 which felt light and agile.

A couple of bolt-ons should make the GTI even better, by the way, paint those calipers in another color. Red is way too rice nowadays :P
