Bandai starts off step one by building the GN drive (which i have faithfully followed), but their step 2 is focusing on the torso.
Most of the time, i like to build my gunpla from top to bottom, unless some parts could be displayed stand alone, like the gn drive. Hence, i decided to build the Exias head first.
So first off- The parts
The standard head consists of 19 parts The R1 head has 18 parts. However, 8 pieces from the standard head is required, so thus you can only display either the R1, or normal head at one time

Starting off with the R1 head. It is unfortunate that Bandai did not mould an extra piece for the damaged main sensor, but gave us a foil sticker instead.

As expected from bandai, the damaged eye camera piece is moulded in extremely high detail. Bandai did provide us with a red sticker for the camera aswell. However, it would probably be better to paint, because the sticker tends to roll around in the socket.

Bandai even moulded the damaged areas.

Now we have a look at the standard Exia head

Unfortunately, my 6 year old digicam does not have enough macro to focus on the laser etched words on the condensor globes. None the less, it was still very thoughtful of bandai to include such minor details.

The gn drive stole the focus spot......
