Swine Flu

Monday, May 11, 2009 Gaze
So for all the readers out there who are not just into moving pictures or moving plastic models, here's abit of discussion/info in regards to swine flu.

Wtf is it: if by some odd chance you happen to not know what is going on at all outside your windows (the real one, not the computer one) then Swine Flu is the name given to a new outbreak of Influenza that originated in Mexico, transmitted from pigs to humans and causes widespread disease there, it is not ranked 5 out of 6 in the WHO scale of pandemics. Meaning it is worldwide and quite serious, however the infection itself is not very deadly so don't panic and read on.

Influenza A <--- A meaning the strain is A, as opposed to B or C which are weaker strains, A is the one that generally causes epidemics/pandemics.

It is H1N1, (hemagglutinin and neuraminidase) the same as the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, except that was from birds.

Zomfg thats scary, what can i do to protect myself?

Avoid attending big functions where there are lots of people, especially in enclosed areas.
Avoid public transports.
Avoid going out at all.
Wearing a face mask can help, but only if its a proper one and not one of those hello kitty ones for $2 from morning glory.
Wear swimming goggles.
Don't touch stuff unecessarily.
Don't touch stuff at all.
Wash hands first thing after returning home (why were you out in the first place).
Keep some Tamiflu tablets if you can, (prices for 50 tablets range from $50 - inflated $1000) though it is not at all necessary.
Get enough rest and sleep, eat healthy, protect yourself from other infections and disease that can potentially weaken your immune system.
For people in Australia, you don't need to do anything basically, since we don't have it yet..

Correct me on anything if you like, I'm happy to argue with you, also discuss anything further if you wish too.

PS. this way people googling swine flu will find our blog as a result winzzzz.

No it was an american owned company in mexico whose captive pigs developed the flu and infected one of the employees or something like that

STDs are born the same way as babies.
