Continuing with Black.....

Sunday, June 26, 2011 KOALA 3 comments
On the topic of black, came across this when I was walking to the station the other day.
From Misc
Don't know if you'd call it art or not, but I have trouble understanding whether its a picture of a black guy or white guy.

What made me even more confused was the line engraved in at the bottom. "Shock the monkey"

Heres what urban dictionary has to say about this line...

1. shock the monkey

verb, when a person (usually a law enforcement officer) uses an electronic form of non lethal force (usually a Tazer) on an African American, to subdue him or her during an arrest.

That nigger must have been high on crack; he kept fighting off the cops, so they had no choice but to shock the monkey!

2. shock the monkey

When a vibrator short circuits in an extremely hairy vagina, thus literally shocking the monkey. This is actually the inspiration behind the song shock the monkey as Peter Gabriel is an avid fan of this move.

Matt: Yo how was you're date with that chick?
Johnny: You know we were just makin out and shit then she asked me to go into the shower and shock the monkey, my bathroom still smells like burnt hair

3. shock the monkey

To Milk the prostate, utilizing a finger inserted into the rectum and the prostate physically manipulated to produce a more intense than normal ejaculation

He let his girlfriend shock the monkey last night. What a mess!

4. shock the monkey

When a redneck pees on a spark plug

Hey Billy Bob d'you hear bout Billy Joe. He done shock the monkey an nearly kill'd he'self

5. shock the monkey

(verb)
the same as shake the monkey but much much harder

Seriously girl, you really gotta shock the monkey before it drags you back to the German jungle.

6. shock the monkey

To have sex with an extremely ugly girl.

Speaker 1: I can't believe Nico is hanging with that girl, she's gross.
Speaker 2: haha, he's gonna shock the monkey.

In other news, finally received employee id card, and attached to that, was this card as well.

From Misc

Promoting you're environmental policy by printing it on a plastic card. Great!
Its like printing "Stop using plastic bags" on a plastic bag, and handing it out to people.

Now on the topic of green, feast your eyes on this

From Gunpla

Just a little prep work for the MG 00 raiser.

As some of you may remember, I covered a bit about the HG 00 raiser in a previous post

Today, we'll have a look at the MG.
So far, we'll be looking at the inner frame of the kit.
Next to MG exia
From Gunpla

Compared to the exia frame, which was quite sloppy and loose even oob, the 00 frame is nice and sturdy.

Theres also a lot of improvement with articulation.
For starters, we'll have a look at the torso.
Exia torso has very limited amount of roll for either side.
From Gunpla
The 00 frame almost doubles the range of roll movement
From Gunpla
One of the strangest parts of the exia was also an incomplete frame.
Being one of the more modern bandai MG's, the exia's legs had a few problems.
As you can see from the following picture, the parts which are separated aren't actually attached together properly, and can fall apart without armor holding it together.
From Gunpla

Given that we know bandai can make full inner frame kits, eg Zaku 2.0
From Gunpla
there shouldnt have been any reason as to why they couldnt make the same for a newer kit.

Thankfully, the MG 00 has it all.

Arm movement also excellent

Now back when I did a quick review of the HG 00, Sum was complaining how robot yoga looked weird. So heres a bit more, with the MG instead. ^^

Oddly enough, the MG cant strike the God gundam pose with legs crossed while standing.
From Gunpla
But then again, REAL men stand with their legs apart.

Well, thats the review of the 00 frame out of the way, next post would be with the armor attached.

Close up of the chest orb
In the photo, it looks like that the light lights up the whole orb
However, it looks like that due to the slow shutter speed used on the camera. In reality, only the words light up.

Now heres some pics of exia posing with the lights on

Otherwise it'll be the overflag.
HobbyDream also has the XN raiser in stock. So might go for that aswell.
Bandai has just opened its PG 00 raiser website
For those who haven't yet checked out the gn drive gimmic, you definately must watch the following vid.

Exia Review Part III

Saturday, September 5, 2009 KOALA 0 comments
Ok, been a bit lazy, so havent bothered putting up pictures even though i have finished building the MG Exia
So, starting from where we left off last time.
Torso
45 pieces if you dont count the core
From Gunpla

gives you some simple forward and back roll, and also some side to side roll action

From Gunpla

From Gunpla

Front and Back

The hip
24 pieces including beam sabers
Similar to most of Bandais lastest MG releases, nothing really special about it. Though, the front skirt armour was a big improvement from the 1-100 HG. Bandai prolly stole the idea from Keta Damn that guy is a genius
From Gunpla

Arms
34 pieces each
Joints are stiff. One complaint i have for bandai is that the ball and socket joint holding the hand is really tight, where as the wrist joint is rather weak. While trying to pose the hands, the hand would often pop off at the wrist. I also question, why they did not bother giving the upper arm a inner frame? Bandai bothered putting in internal details for the shoulder armour, yet they simply decided to make the upper arm high grade like.
From Gunpla

Legs
32 pieces
Once again, simple, solid joints. On the end of each foot, is a toe joint, which seems pretty redundant, since it doesnt really do anything. The feet of this kit aren't really flat, so it is often hard to balance on surfaces. In previous MG kits, such as the Nu and Hi-Nu, bandai have taken extra care to include foot locks in the kits. Unfortunately, it seems like that Exia does not get the same amount of love.
From Gunpla

Equipment
Lets start off with the shield.
Only consists of 6 parts
Has a simple sliding mechanism.
The attachment unit to the Exia's forearm is unadjustable, so thats a few minus points for this kit
From Gunpla

From Gunpla

GN BLADES Long & Short
7 pieces each
Well, what can i say. To be honest, I was never really impressed by the chrome bling on these blades. However, after building them, i realised that they dont look that bad after all. However, i still prefer the standard gn blades instead.
From Gunpla

From Gunpla

Beam Sabers/Daggers
2 pieces each
What more can i say??
The most standard thing in all gunpla kits
From Gunpla

GN Sword / GN Sword R1
Well well, the last and probably the best of Exia's equipment. The GN Sword.
Each configuration uses 19 pieces, 15 of which are used in both.
From Gunpla
Sword mode
From Gunpla
Rifle Mode
From Gunpla

Ohwells, so i guess thats most of the parts out of the way
Now its just pics of exia
I didnt bother taking much. Will post more up once the LEDs arrive
From Gunpla

I've attmepted to recreated some of exia's poses.
However, within the anime, most of the time, the gundams are out of scale.
Hence, the model looks now where near as badass as the following screen shot
From Screen Captures

From Gunpla

From what i've seen, the R1 seems to look slightly more accurate. However, the cape does need some improvement.

So thats about it
Overall, the kit is decent, but i guess we were prolly execting too much out of it. One of the main highlights to mention about is the clear parts which was bandais solution to the ugly rubber used in the original designs.
LED's should come in on Monday, if Tofu remebers, so maybe a few new pictures then.
