Dead or Alive: Dimensions

So the media is concerned about taking photos of young girls? Wait till they see what this game is REALLY like! (forgive the blur)

NIPPLES!!

THRUSTING!!

ARMPITS!!

UPSKIRT!!

AND HOMOS!!

On a serious note, anyone with a 3DS who's considering this game should grab a copy while they can. It will either be reclassified or banned completely, Mortal Kombat style. Already happened in Sweden, and we're next.

MG Acguy

Thursday, May 12, 2011 Onderon 0 comments
I purchased this baby over a year ago during the first gunpla building get together I went to which was at COFA and have always been meaning to do something nice with it and since I was in the mood I decided to brush off the dust and get my arse into gear.

From MG Ball

This was the only photo I have of it before I started working on it but I'm sure everyone knows what it looks like

The goal for this project was to achieve a semi decent marbling effect and since I've never tried it b4 I found some spare parts and dabbed on some silver paint with a paintbrush and thanks to my every impressive laziness I opted to brush on a clear color instead of using the airbrush
From Gunpla

Big mistake. The brush strokes literally melted the silver paint so it became blurry but that a side I was confident with what I had to do so I busted out the airbrush and sprayed on a layer of Alclad Gloss Black - which I also forgot to take photos of.

Interesting note. The gloss black was more transparent compared to Tamiya paints so it would require multiple coats to achieve a solid look but since the Acguy was brown to begin with it didn't make much difference and Alclad Gloss Black is super cheap.

After that was to apply the patterns. At first I was planning on varying the tones by using silver and interlacing with white but since I wanted a dark shade of blue as the clear coat I figured the white would become redundant.
From Gunpla

I opted to use a soft bristle brush since it was the less messy.
From Gunpla

N.b. the paint used was Tamiya Chrome Silver and its touch dried in like 5 minutes.
ATTENTION! For all those who attempt the next part remember to lay down a coat of clear coat to protect the patterns incase you screw up the color coat like I did.

Better lighting. Sunlight is the best when it comes to photography =)
From Gunpla

From Gunpla

Notice how the patterns are pretty uniform due to using a brush. I assume using a sponge will yield more realistic patterns.

Managed to do the clear blue today after uni but made a mistake with thinning the paint on my 2nd cup hence half the parts had to be stripped down to remove all the acrylic - Glass cleaner works wonders here. It's like waxing legs minus the pain.

Hopefully I'll remember to mix the paint properly tomorrow

How clean is your computer? Part 4

Friday, April 29, 2011 KOALA 9 comments
Two and a half years. And you think to yourself that you've seen it all.
Dust, cobwebs, a couple of dead cockroaches here and there, nothing too special.
But today, I think we deal with the most extreme cases. Even my boss has never encountered something this strange.

And today, we deal with a rather big rotting apple.
Yes, the unfortunate client brought in an 2005 iMac, with an infestation. I wouldn’t be surprised why they the Mac store wouldn’t accept it.
I guess I wouldn’t go into too much detail about this, (as the client is a police officer, so I have no idea whether they would be spying on this article or not), so as usual, pictures are worth a thousand words – or in this instance, a thousand ants.
The outside. The unit was brought in with every gap and crevice taped up. Upon releasing the tape, the ants started to crawl out all over the place.

Now before you move onto the next few pictures, I must warn you. If you are currently eating, I recommend you finish eating before scrolling down.

By this time, a lot of them had already started crawling out and into a containment box which we set up.

And as we dug deeper to remove more parts, we found even more groups. This was under the hard drive.

On the motherboard.

Even the fans were filled with ants and their eggs.

And as we were using the air compressor to flush them out, ants and eggs were flushed out everywhere.

So. After looking at this, please make sure that you all keep your computers clean. Make it a good habit of not to eat near your computer.

Now moving onto some backlog stuff.
For starters, need to thank Chun kei for this late, but awesome birthday present.

A nice decoration item on my desk.

And in other news.
We are now moving up one level in our world of gunpla. A spray booth, with ventilator and light.

If it wasn’t for the droplets of paint on the inside, it could also be used as light box for photos.

Soft boiled eggs and training with bears

Wednesday, April 27, 2011 Onderon 3 comments
Whoever has eaten or half eaten a bowl of Gumshara ramen would have tried their delectable soft boiled eggs which are as soft and fluffy as clouds and literally melts in your mouth.

I would like to announce that I am 1 step closer to mastering this recipe and present you with my very first successful attempt.

From Random

The whites is nice and firm with a nice consistent ovoid shape. On closer inspection you may notice a slight tinge of yellow from the yoke at the tip of the egg.

From Random

The outside has denatured enough to allow for some prodding lawl.

From Random

The yoke is actually less runny than in the picture as I had to poke open the egg with a pair of chopsticks and mushed things around instead of slicing it with some fishing wire.

All in all I'm pleased with this attempt and with practice one can only get better =)

PG strike straight build

From PG strike

Got this last Saturday and the straight build took maybe 8hrs to complete. Still got the rest of the weapons and the Aile pack to go. Half the parts have been sanded and prepped as of this post so I'm hoping to get some painting done over the Easter break. Look forward to it!

Servers are deadly

Tuesday, April 12, 2011 KOALA 0 comments
So, for the past few days at work, i have dedicated a part of myself to building a server for a client.
The system itself is a modest entry level server, with a few nice components thrown in here and there.
One of which is this Adaptec raid controller card.
From Misc
The ASAR6805 is labed as a "value" series card by adaptec, with a price tag of $632.
Mind you, adaptec raid cards have a entry level price of around $56, while some of the high end ones will hit around 1.5k. So i guess $600 would be counted as relatively good value.
Upon opening the plain brown card board box (not really flashy for an expensive component), I was greeted with this small sheet of paper slipped into the packaging.
From Misc
Oh dear. Im actually considering actually taping this sticker to the main chassis of the server, so that when the client picks it up, he will be fully aware not to leave this giant box running in his bedroom at night, just incase the radiation slowly fries his balls off.

Anyways, thats enough for me today. Will probably do more posts on this server later in the week.

Power Overwhelming

Thursday, March 24, 2011 Onderon 1 comments
I'm overly exciting today. Why? Because I managed to get my hand on one of the sexiest computer peripherals available.

The Razer Naga Molten.
From Naga

OK sure I got the standard Naga a few months ago while I was still playing WoW and some might say its a mere re-skin of an existing model but listen to this, there's the Naga, Naga Epic(cordless), Molten and the unreleased Maelstrom. Thats 4 mouse with the same overall design and 2 of then have the same visual features but Razer realised they hit something good to keep churning out variants.

So lets do a small comparison of the 2 that I currently own. The box includes a small facelift on the front while the sides panels are complete redone for the molten
From Naga

From Naga

Flipping open the front cover reveals the exact same things except for minor color differences
From Naga

From Naga

BTW the one that's unboxed is the blue one which I've been using till now

The packaging is fairly sturdy with multiple layers of plastic trays
From Naga

...but we don't really care about that so lets get onto the mouse.
From Naga

Visually the mouse is very impressive. Its sleek, black and badass. The cracks are molded into the rubber coating which covers the entire top of the mouse for extra grip and supple comfort.

The main selling point of this beast
That's right 12 thumb buttons plus the standard 5 buttons for a grand total of SEVENTEEN re-mappable buttons and for an MMO player its a dream come true. Buttons 4-6 and 10-12 have ridges on them to help users become accustom to the many buttons by giving tactile feedback on were you thumb is.

Sleek...
From Naga

It comes with a 7ft braided fiber cord which is very durable and doesn't like to tangle
From Naga

and a gold plated USB connector
From Naga

Side by side there isnt really any difference between the 2
From Naga

The engravings on the Standard Naga is more simple but has its own charms
From Naga

aaand excuse all the streaks all over the mouse. I had to wipe it down with some cleaning wipes to degrease it( yes the rubber coating loves grease) before I give it to Ivan who was kind enough to buy it off me woot.
From Naga

Spot the difference
From Naga

The main left and right buttons are 1 piece with the rubber top and as you can see there is a large travel distance for your clicks which to me feels more comfortable and I know a click has been made and spamming it is more enjoyable.
From Naga

Let there be light!
From Naga

Selling point 2. LEDs makes stuff sexy period. Here is the biggest and only difference between Naga series of mice. Can you tell which one is the molten?

The standard Naga shines abit brighter and has a more clean and sophisticated look
oh and did I mention that the Molten along with the disappearing Maelstrom supposedly were designed for Wow Cataclysm .

OK so I talked a whole bunch of about the looks of the mouse. What about the specs and how well does it perform? TBH with you I don't think I'm qualified enough to say whats good or bad with this mouse but I'll try to give you my persona opinion if its worth anything.

First off, it was made for MMOs where macroing and hotkeys are the norm. For instance I use to play as a bear druid which translates into a tank and to some people tanking is a very focused role with too many buttons to worry about. Initially I was a bit apprehensive about tanking but blah blah I totally pooned while using this mouse and gradually became so lazy I couldn't play the game with a normal mouse anymore.

On your average mice the thumb operated 2-4 buttons and 2 of these being the forward and backwards button as set by default. These 2 buttons on the Naga are abit strange and requires you to press them with ur index finger as it sits just off to the side of the left click and it does take a while to get use to the strange feeling of angling your index finger out that way.

The lack of dpi on the fly button is abit disappointing instead your required to change the dpi through the downloadable software which becomes abit of a hassle but hey unless you're playing FPS thats not really a problem. The scroll wheel is very solid and only scrolls when you need it to and i believe there is no side to side scrolling but meh I never used it.

And thats pretty much about it from me.

Here's some more pics of stuff I don't care about which comes out of the box
