On marginal communities facing cultural annihilation

I feel a little more content these days as opposed to a few weeks ago as I have introduced a few changes into how I go about my daily routine.

1. I have completely given up on maths, and refuse to attend classes or tutorials for the rest of the semester

2. I have been staying in the medical library almost daily from about 12 - 7.30 for intense study sessions, that have so far, been highly productive, and combined with 1. have brought me almost up to speed.

3. I have been drinking 2 cans of V a day, one at 12, the other at 4, that have helped me stay awake and alert, allowing me to work at approximately 2.5x my normal pace (c.f. 3x during stuvac ^^)

4. I have been avoiding buying food at uni, saving me quite a bit of money (down from about $40 a week to just under $20).

I don't know why I'm telling anyone this, guess Tim said I should contribute to 4pakisdead, although, since my life is so boring and retarded, I have nothing worthwhile to contribute :(

NG IMPULSE

So as you may have noticed, 4pakisdead . . er . It's degraded itself into an assorted bin of internet memes and blog plagiarism. The lowest of the Internet.

To be fair, this is what we wanted. Community blogging and the sharing, support, unity along with the ethnics problems associated with unorganized collaborations. It didn't really matter if we had a bad run. Besides, who was going to read our blog besides only ourselves anyway?

Site statistics would suggest otherwise.

As surprise to many, myself included, we have a following! Little, fickle and brittle as such a curious crowd is, there is a small colony of returning visitors everyday! But theyre a choosey bunch and strange as it may sound, that viral youtube video with a million hits receives less than 10 on the blog! The big hitters, the ones drawing in the crowds, are the posts with original content, such as works in progress, personal bests, anecdotes or factual pieces.

This post isn't meant to discourage fellow friends and myself from posting videos or recycling other blog content, keep on doing it !! It's far more convenient than forward or a hyperlink and posting it on a blog is still a great way to share a good find. However, on the odd occasion it would be nice to read something different or creative! Anything will do, a rant, poem, thought, review, report, drawing or even a link to something of interest.

TO THE GUNDAM

So .. as youve noticed, the last few blog entries of mine have been fairly insignificant in the eyes of the mecha minded that visit this blog! But dont take that as a sign of inactivity! No! This last week ive been happily working away at my latest project or test as i see it. The non-grade 1/144 force impulse. Yeahhh.. i know what you are thinking .. that broke ass motherfucker. From the super-mega-deluxe-with-the-stand-included VF25 ARMORED to the 10 dollar bargain bin kit ( i actually think it was less than 10 dollars when i bought it)

Well the reason ive chosen to work on this is because i see this kit as a test of my hand painting skills. Early on in my budgeting for this year i realised i was never going to afford an airbrush so i did the only reasonable thing that any-one would come to. Get pro at pastels. Art has never been so economical. Since i suck at painting then it's best to start cheap yeah ???

onto the kit.

Ehhe .. well i knew it was cheap but i didnt expect it to be this bad . The box is so bland that bandai didnt deem it worthy for box art so just rehashed some promo material and slapped on some lineart on the side. It doesnt get much better inside. Theres some 3 or 4 runners(i wasnt really looking, its too painful to look at), everything comes as a single moulding or as 2 pieces so articulation is nonexistent and the mould colors are slightly off. Not that it matters anyway since ill paint it.
probably the most funny thing about this kit is the manual ... if you could call it that , its literally an a4 sheet with color assembly! COLOR ASSEMBLY! Thats big pimping from bandai ! Not even my PG strike has that! Admittedly when you only have 10 pieces its a bit easier and when you omit a painting guide its not even a manual, more of a hollow wonder.

Anyways, built it up and glued some parts so that the seams are less obvious, i cant be botthered puttying cos i really didnt want to primer everything.

So here it is, sanded and masked.

Now for the paint !

wrong .. so wrong ... Tamiya arcrylic is shit. I completely understand why no pro modelller would even touch it unless it was for an airbrush ! The brush marks are everywhere, opacity is terrible and its plain annoying to work with.

I ran into problems early on with the wings as they needed primer. Unfortunately for me , tamiya primer is almost as terrible as the white. For a start its thick , but when thinnned its useless. I met a halfway compromise and just decided to layer a thick one and sand it back. And on went the red.

Red doesn't have the same problems as white, probably because its matte, not semi gloss and the red container doesnt look like a flowery tofu dessert when left alone for a day.

After that i realised i had a few enamel paints i could use and decided to test them out. Tamiya gloss blue and Revell satin black. Mixed with thinner on a makeshift palette, a defunct T-Card, courtesy of the former governments incompetency to steup a decent ticketing system, and went to work applying paint to the calf and backpack.

Immediately you can feel the difference. Arcrylic paints suck balls.Enamel is actually workable because the paint takes much longer to settle, removing the brush marks and making the paint more even.

Next step , the acrylic red dried so i decided to use some gloss red i had to make it work with the gloss theme of the impulse. I also used some acrylic clear blue gloss on the body as well. The red turned out so so ... was a bit too candy , whereas the blue was liveable .. overall quite happyNext was the detailings.. i decided to paint the crest and V insigias gold an ten go over the gold in yellow to dull it slightly. The light blue segments would just be white with some gloss or enamel painted over them, The vents i used a matte grey that seemed to work well..

it came out alright...

now i need to wait for the pain to dry(2-3days) and then i will panel line the model. My lamp has become a makeshift hangar for things to dry off (:

The Real Truth about Pokemon

Most of us would have been introduced to pokemon during our primary school, and most of you would have found it a to be the coolest show back then. The following article was written by a member on 4chan, and it would reveal to you some of the truths behind the story of pokemon. If the following clip from ep 38 doesn't screw up your mind, then perhaps this will.

Did one ever know the reason why the pacing and story development change after Ash was hit by lightning in the beginning episodes? How Ash and his world were relatively normal until after the incident? I have a theory. The accident with the bike put Ash in a coma. Days later he was found and was hurried to the hospital and treated with heavy medications. This is why Team Rocket became less menacing. The medication took effect and stabilized his coma dreams, instead of being terrifying, they became idyllic, and he's able to live out his Pokémon master fantasies.
If one had noticed, the early episodes of Pokémon were of amazing quality. The rest of the series is just the results of his subconscious mind fulfilling his desires, as well as attempting to escape them. Should Ash realize he's in a coma, he would wake up, but suffer brain damage. So he has to take down all his mental barriers one by one until he can come to grips with what he is and escape his coma.
This explains why he doesn't change much physically. Also, the worldwide socialism can be explained if you once again realize that this is a dream world; he thought up a safe system of government that would run smoothly and keeps the world going allowing his adventures to work like they do. It also explains a few other things, such as how a child can go off on his own in a world full of dangerous untamed animals, and why every Pokémon center has the same exact nurse. Joy and Jenny he knew from his hometown, and they act as a safety net or anchor, allowing him to feel safe no matter where he goes. The professors, like the Joy's and Jenny's represent stability, and ash's ideals. This is why Gary became a professor. It's also the reason that every time he enters a new region, virtually no one has heard of him, despite his conquests, and why Giovanni leads Team Rocket. How could Paul, the rival of the Sinnoh area, not know of someone who has placed in at least the top 16 of all three leagues and has destroyed the Orange league and Battle Frontier?
Ash’s travelling partners are actually aspects of himself he can enjoy, but doesn't like to associate with himself. Team Rocket are his qualities that he deems "negative", but is coming to terms with. Jesse and James want to appease Giovanni, Ash's Father. Meowth especially wants to appease him because he remembers the good times with Giovanni. This Places meowth in a category known as ash's (corrupted) innocence, and another fragment of ash's humanity. If you note that meowth can speak this quickly becomes apparent. In fact the whole reason for meowth's speech is so he can help Ash accept Team rocket as part of himself eventually.
Brock is Ash's repressed sexuality. He fell into the coma a virgin and needed an outlet for his growing sexual frustrations. Since he can never experience sex, Brock must never succeed. Brock is a projection of his sexuality, and is constantly shot down because Ash could never “know” sex. Brock isn't just Ash's latent sexuality, he's also his fatherly instincts, neither of which Ash can come to terms with. Brock leaves his siblings to "journey" with Ash. because Ash can't cope with having that much responsibility, much as his foray with a real relationship ends on mysterious terms. Ash just cannot handle commitment at his mental level. Brock's Stay with professor Ivy was an.attempt to outright suppress his sexuality. You'll notice that James got much more dialogue in this part of the series, as well as getting more touchy feel-y with his pokemon and getting most of his backstory. Ash didn't enjoy this much, hence the reasons Brock comes back all horrified, and refuses to speak about it. (ash's subconscious was repressing him at the time, so other than a general feeling of dread he has no idea of what went on then.) This is also why Brock keeps coming back to the series....Usually AFTER Ash meets a new girl aspect of himself.Misty is an image that Ash had of a girl. This is why she plays so prevalently in the series but is ultimately unattainable because he never really knew her before the coma. Likely the one that helped get him to a hospital. I have a theory in line with this: Since Misty was his initial love interest (if only subconsciously), he needed her to reach a level of womanhood. He felt that people could only have relationships when they've matured. But in practice, it turned out he couldn't cope with it and just wanted the normal, pushy, arrogant Misty he knew, and wouldn't let her keep Togepi anymore.
Misty is Ash's first attempt at a girl he could love, however, being a girl from the real world, all he really he knew of her was her anger, as a result she ended up quite hot headed in his mind. Constantly berating his sexuality, but eventually mellowing out until she had faded into the background. This was also traumatizing to him, being attached to it. Since then, the thought of anyone around him maturing to adulthood has been blocked, and anyone who shows signs of it will quickly end up leaving for another, more naive fill-in.
Max came with May, she played the Id with great aspirations, and he played the sensible Ego that "Session". They worked for a little while but Ash, being a teenager, eventually had his sexuality had to come back into play. He kept reinventing himself and eventually wrote new aspects, but his mind slowly brought back the old ones as a crutch to make the transition easier.
Dawn is Ash giving himself a chance to love. since he already established Misty as someone he's not likely to go anywhere with, he created a new super female, one that was more like him, and less violent all the time. (One will note that both May and Misty had no tolerance for Brock whatsoever whereas dawn seems to try and shrug it off.) .


I would like to remind you all that this article was not written by me. I do however, agree with some parts of the theories, yet disagree with others.
